Jeanette Lewis For the past twenty years Jeanette has conducted classes, private tuition and workshops for Porcelain Lace Draping, Porcelain Doll making and Porcelain Art Classes at her own studio and retail shop in Melbourne as well as country areas in Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland.
Porcelain Lace Draping figurines are similar to those art works produced for the very wealthy by European factories during the 18th century. There are now only a couple of factories producing these figurines and only in small quantities. The procedure drenches porcelain through cotton lace, and natural fibres, draped onto a figure to transform into a porcelain imprint when fired in a kiln.
Jeanette has been sculpting her own Original Portraits in Porcelain since 1991 during which time she has completed commissions and has shown her work in the United States as well as showing and entering competitions in Australia.
Prior to conducting her own classes Jeanette studied commercial art, oil painting, and porcelain art. This grounding also helped her into formulating some of her own ideas for design in Porcelain Lace Draping and creating ideas that had not ever before been accomplished. In 1992 after trial and experiment Jeanette released her onglaze paints developed for her own Original Dolls. Since then they have been distributed throughout Australia and New Zealand.
Since moving to Hervey Bay, Jeanette has conducted private tuition and workshops as well as achieving high results in competitions throughout Australia.
